The Feedback Protocol

Last updated: 2026-09-14

01. The Problem

The physical world has a latency problem.

Software developers live in a world of instant loops. If a feature is broken, Sentry alerts us. If a user is confused, Intercom pings us. We fix it, push to production, and the problem is solved for everyone, forever. The cost of failure is $0.

Physical businesses fly blind. If the music is too loud, the coffee is burnt, or the bathroom is dirty, 99% of customers say nothing. They just leave.

The feedback loop only closes weeks later when a 1-star review hits Google Maps. By then, the churn has happened. The damage is done. The "Suggestion Box" is a relic. We are watching local businesses die a slow death by lack of signal, replaced by boring franchises that can afford mystery shoppers.

02. The Philosophy

Masterpieces are the result of iteration. Paul Graham noted that great paintings show evidence of multiple corrections under x-ray. Software is the same. A restaurant should be the same.

We believe a coffee shop should be able to iterate on its product with the same velocity as a SaaS startup.

  • INPUTS MUST BE FRICTIONLESS Data should come from anywhere: QR codes, e-ink displays, NFC tags. 5 seconds or less. No apps to download. No accounts to create.
  • PRIVACY IS A FEATURE We don't track users across venues. We don't sell data. Honest feedback, anonymized users.
  • DATA BELONGS TO YOU We are a pipe, not a silo. Export your data. Webhook it to Slack. Query it via API. It's your business.

03. The Solution

Feedbackscreen is opinionated software. It is not a "suite." It does not have "AI-powered sentiment analysis chatbots."

It is a lightweight protocol for signal processing. We provide the endpoints. You provide the space.

"If you can't measure it, you can't improve it." — Peter Drucker

But if measuring it is annoying, you won't measure it at all. We make measuring invisible.

Our Commitment

We are a small, independent team. We don't have VC investors demanding 10x growth. We aren't trying to "disrupt" hospitality. We just want better tacos, better gyms, and better coffee shops.

Stop guessing. Start iterating.
